Haunted Kentucky
With a name like "Waverly Hill Sanatorium", it's no wonder this old Louisville, Kentucky tuberculosis ward continues to generate lore! Originally opened in 1910 as a two-story hospital to house 40-50 tuberculosis patients, Waverly Hill has been tagged as being one of the most haunted hospitals in the Eastern United States.
Three notable areas of Waverly Hill are Room 502, where legend tells of two suicides occuring, the place known simply as "the drainage room" located next to the morgue in the basement, and "the body chute", a converted coal tunnel that was used to transport dead patients from the hospital to the crematorium located down the hill.
