Haunted Nebraska
Every place has a history, and that history is not always at peace with the present. Built in 1911, the Argo Hotel in Crofton, Nebraska was converted to a clinic in 1935. Very often, the patients who came for treatment were terminal. Diseases such as cancer, emphysema, and other maladies proved too deadly, costing hundreds who came to this well-regarded Crofton clinic their lives.
The hotel regained its birthright in 1994 and it was during renovation that rumors of a haunting began to surface. One of the most macabre finds during the renovation period was a burlap sack of infant bones found cemented into a wall.
There are quite a few phenomena reported in the Argo, including banging doors, cold spots, shattering glasses, flickering lights and various apparations. There are stories of a phantom baby's cry and of a woman calling for her lost child. The most persistent soul of the Argo Hotel is a woman in the basement named Alice, who died in childbirth some time in the 1940's, and has been seen, heard and felt ever since.
